Former Sky Blue captain, German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, has resigned with his beloved Manchester City.
The news of his return was given by Italian Romano Fabrizio. Under the terms of his contract, he will be tied to Manchester City for one year, with an option for a further 12 months.
At the age of 33, Ilkay Gundogan joined FC Barcelona at the end of his contract with City.
Less than a year later, he is back in the Premier League for free in the colors of the club that signed him in 2016.
Ilkay Gundogan made 188 appearances during his first spell at City, winning the Premier League title five times, as well as the Champions League and two FA Cups.
This week, the footballer announced his retirement from international soccer. His return to England was prompted by the decision of the Blaugrana's new coach, Hansi Flick.
Indeed, Xavi Hernandez's replacement this summer does not want Gündogan and has told him that he will not feature in his plans.
