On Monday December 23, 2024, the Société des infrastructures routières et de l'aménagement du territoire (SIRAT) provisionally handed over work on the Cotonou Rainwater Sanitation Program (PAPC).
This project, financed by the Agence Française de Développement and supported by six technical and financial partners, as well as by the commitment of the Beninese government, represents a major step forward in the fight against the recurrent flooding that affects Benin's economic capital.
This ambitious program includes the construction of ten kilometers of Renos/gabion mattress retention basins and the upgrading of 5,124 linear meters of roads in the Agla, Kouhounou, Akplomey, Godomey and Ménontin districts.

At a total cost of 23,300,174,040 CFA francs, this infrastructure also includes the installation of 115 linear meters of collectors for efficient drainage of rainwater.
Prior to official acceptance, a number of inspection stages were carried out, including a completion report and a preliminary inspection, to ensure that the work complied scrupulously with the specifications.
Moreover, infrastructure not only fulfils a utilitarian function, it also contributes to the preservation of local biodiversity by providing areas dedicated to the reproduction of certain species.
