In an exclusive interview with France 24, Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), rejected accusations by Samuel Eto'o, President of the Cameroon FA, that CAF was defaming him through an investigation into match-fixing.

Nobody, starting with me, is above the law," declared Patrice Motsepe, asserting that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with CAF rules and with respect for the presumption of innocence.

The CAF President also touched on other issues, such as his goal of seeing an African country win the next World Cup in 2026, and the alleged cases of sexual assault involving several youth team coaches in Gabon. According to him, CAF takes these cases very seriously, even if it is sometimes hampered by the fact that those suspected are imprisoned without trial in their own countries.

Asked about his future at the helm of CAF, Patrice Motsepe did not rule out a second term, insisting that the progress made must not go up in smoke. Above all, however, he wants to establish a solid foundation and management team, so that he can be replaced if necessary.
